About HWS

Hodag Water Shows (HWS) was organized and held its first show at Hodag Park on the shores of Boom Lake in 1971. Since 1971 HWS has been entertaining visitors at free shows twice a week featuring some of the area’s top water skiers. Every Sunday at 7:00 pm from mid-June until late August, plus the 4th of July, HWS performs a show that features acts such as ballet, jump, swivel skiing, trick skiing, barefooting, doubles, trios, wakeboarding, and pyramid.

Members range in age from 6 to almost 50 and some of the members have been with the team for more than 30 years. Concessions such as hot dogs, walking tacos, nachos, cotton candy, chips, beverages and many other snacks are available at each show.

with free ski clinic for community

The Hodag Water Shows waterski team closed out a successful

2023 waterski season with its final show on Sunday, August 21,

where our learn-to-skiers got to perform for the crowd.

Our group of learn-to-ski youth started the Thursday after the

4th of July and worked hard for all of July and most of August to

learn skiing and on August 21 they got to show the fans and crowd

what they could do. They got to pick their own music and hear

their name announced to those in attendance.

Then to wrap up the season completely, HWS hosted a free

waterski clinic to anyone in the community — any age — on Thursday, Aug. 24. The turnout was great with 16 people showing up. All left with smiles on their faces. We hope to see many of these people back next year for the learn-to-ski program and we hope to see our learn-to-skiers from this year join our team as regular members next year!

As we head into fall and winter we now must turn our attention to cleaning up the ski show site for the offseason — putting away our docks, cleaning out the concession stand and ski shed and get ready for the colder weather (yeah, not a fun task).

We would like to thank all of our skiers, our learn-to-skiers, our sponsors, friends, family, and community for all of the love and support they have shown our team throughout this year! This has been one of our most successful seasons in a while pulling in new members and we hope it continues!
